My recovery after severe Type 1 Diabetic seizure

febrero 23, 2019

Hi I’m Royce,
This is me recovering from a severe type 1 diabetic seizure where my roommate had to call paramedics (this summer). If my blood sugar gets too low, I can fall into a diabetic shock, bite my tongue, forget who I am and completely lose consciousness (similar to epilepsy). If I ride too high, I feel nauseous and make myself vulnerable to long term complications such as, eye damage, kidney damage, strokes, ulcers and nerve damage. Managing type 1 diabetes is like a double-edged sword and I’m constantly riding this wave to keep incidents like these from happening. Eating healthy and sticking to a balanced lifestyle is key but not always easy.
I’m pushing myself to bring more awareness to this disease. I’m on the insulin pump and test my blood 5 to 6 times a day.
